INCREASE OF SURROGACY RATES IN INDIA



 Let  me start off with a question ; can any combination of the 26 alphabets define the joy of being a mother ? Definitely not . The joy of being a mother has no comparison indeed. But what if some female is unable to conceive a child due to some biological deficit ? Modern world comes with an amazing solution to it i.e. SURROGACY. But is it a solution in real sense or has turned out to a problem , at least in India . Surrogacy rates have gradually increased in India. Now these rates haven't increased just because a majority females couldn't conceive a baby but there are other several reasons too. Industrialization has made surrogacy increasingly popular amongst masses. a certain ratio of females give up their joy of being a mother just for the sake of their career. (Is it wrong ? Practically NO ; Sentimentally YES) This is because surrogacy now-a-days has become an easier option because of relatively low costs & easy access to surrogates through Indian Surrogacy Agencies . This all has now turned into a complete racket which at times may victimize innocent people. Presently surrogacy by Homosexual Foreign Couples & single parents is banned in India , but still these things are on ; of course illegally. Also commercial surrogacy had been banned in India and was only allowed for research purposes. But presently it has been allowed with certain terms and conditions. Only heterosexual Indian married couples are allowed for commercial surrogacy if and only if the couple couldn't conceive for minimum 5 years post their marriage . In that case , they can freely opt for a surrogate mother under certain conditions like taking complete care of the surrogate mother for around 11 months , insurance for her health and life , govt. documentations , etc. Also a surrogate cannot be forced but she should volunteer the process. Relating this there's one example from Haryana where in a rich model wanted to have a child but didn't want to risk her beauty and figure for the sake . So she targeted 19 year old poor girl and kidnapped her almost for a year and persuaded her for surrogacy , that too secretly, costing her life in the end. Unfortunately, out of shame the girl committed suicide. This is not the only example but there are many such more . Scary , isn't it ? Who had ever thought such a fortunate biological procedure would turn into a serious threat ! Poor girls are targeted , threatened by some shameless people with power and enforce this on them for their own advantage. In many cases , surrogate mothers are definitely paid but their consent is never bothered ; of course greed also appears here somewhere. Today there are multiple regulations on the consent of the surrogate , her age , her medical health , other facilities , etc. but does every person cares to follow them ? NO. So let's make an affirmation to actually curb this issue and make the use of this boon like biological method for what it is actually meant .
